Interested in Adoption?

If you are interested in adoption and have no idea where to start...You are not alone! Most people that are interested in adoption, assume that it takes years to adopt, and that you can't adopt here in the U.S. That is incorrect. Not only can you adopt in the U.S. You can do it quickly. Most adoptions can occur in 6-12 months, less than that if you are interested in bi-racial, or african american. Another misconception is that it is $50k or more to adopt a baby. That is also not true. A caucasian adoption could cost anywhere from $25k-40k, but usually somewhere around $32k. There are also a million ways to fund your adoption. You can fundraise, you can apply for grants, apply for interest-free loans. There is also a very large tax-credit for families that adopt, currently it is sitting right around $11,000. Adoption is not unattainable. It is definitely within your reach.

Adoption is also talked about in the Bible in many passages. I believe that God calls us to adopt. Read the following verses:

"Pray without ceasing…” 1 Thessalonians 5:17

“We prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted what we asked of Him.” 1 Samuel 1:27

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I set you apart. “ Jeremiah 1:5-6

“He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord.” Psalm 113:9

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“May the Lord make you increase, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth.” Psalm 115:14-15

“The Lord is gracious and righteous; Our God is full of compassion.” Psalm 116:5

“And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.” Matthew 18:5

“A man makes a plan in his heart, but God directs his path.” Proverbs 16:9

“'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” Jeremiah 29:11

“Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only…” James 1:22

"The King will reply 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me.'" Matthew 25:40

There are a number of examples of adoption in scripture. Not all were cases of providing for orphans. Some were occasions of placing a child in adoption for a specific purpose, but all were cases of providing for the well-being of a child.

Here are some other examples that are sometimes mentioned as types of adoption: Esther and Mordecai (Esther); Jacob’s adoption of Ephraim and Manesseh (Genesis 48); Abram and Eliazar (Genesis 15); and Eli and Samuel (1Samuel 1).

"Adoption is a scriptural metaphor that emphasizes the permanence of our relationship with God, the rights we have as His children and His redemption of us."

Paul described how Christians were adopted into God’s family, a privilege originally bestowed exclusively on Israel but made available by the new covenant to all who have faith in Christ.

As you can clearly see, there are many biblical references to adoption! Please contact us if you have any interest or questions about adoption. We have been made aware of many situations with available babies. There is always a need for couples willing to adopt african-american and bi-racial!

Building Relationships...

This has been a very busy week for Faithful Adoption Consultants. Being a new company, we are constantly trying to build new relationships. We are building relationships with prospective new clients, reputable agencies, reputable facilitators and attornies. That in itself is a full-time job! I have been concentrating this week on new agencies, and I must say I am quite tired. I have contacted 10 new agenices since Monday! Mostly by email, but tomorrow is the fun day, I get to call all of the agenices that I didn't hear back from. Not too bad, except that I also have 4 kids to tend too! I usually try and do phone calls while they are napping, but lately my kiddos are trying to phase out naps! Which makes it even harder!

PLease pray for us as we build these new relationships, and please pray for each couple that we are working with. Pray that God will give them a peace about their specific situation, and faith to trust that it will happen in His time! I love the song by John Waller: While I'm Waiting...I pray that each couple will wait patiently, and move ahead bold and confident while they wait for You, Lord.

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience

While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait

I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord

A little about us...

My name is Courtney. My husband Emory and I started this company last fall! God has been doing amazing things in our lives!

Emory and I have been married for almost 6 years. We have 4 children, and 2 dogs!! God has blessed our family with children through many different avenues, and given us a passion for adoption. When we got married 6 years ago, we had no idea the journey we were about to embark on, we had no idea the plans that God had in store for us.

Shortly after we got married in October 2003, we became pregnant. We found out 9 weeks later that I had miscarried. However, God had a plan. Within 10 days of my miscarriage I was pregnant again. Unbelieveable, even my doctor said so...it takes at least 2 menstrual cycles for your body to work everything out...Not when God is in control. Nine LONG months later, I gave birth to the cutest blonde hair, brown eyed boy ever. A was born November 2, 2004. We assumed that because I seemed to get pregnant so easily that there would be many more biological children. Once again, God had a different plan!

When A was 22 months old, we found out about a possible adoption situation from a friend, who is also an adoption consultant. She had been contacted by a lady who had 3 bi-racial girls that needed immediate placement. Being as we were friends, and I had mentioned my desire for adoption, she was able to connect me with this lady. Within 2 days, we met Miss Priss. She was 3, almost 4 at the time we met her. She was absolutely gorgeous...(by the way we would've taken all 3, but they had already been placed with other families!)and it didn't take long to know we couldn't live without her. She had a very extreme situation, and we did not go through a private agency, so our journey was much longer than the typical adoption. We had Miss Priss for over 2 years, before we were able to adopt her. We officially adopted her July 23, 2008. It was a great day!! But, God didn't stop there...

Over the course of the 2 years it took to officially adopt her, we realized that we were unable to have more children. At least for now. I have a very different issue than most women with fertility complications. I can get pregnant, I just can't keep the baby for longer than about 6-8 weeks. Emory and I have experienced many, many miscarriages. We have come to trust that God just intends to build our family in much more unique way! And we are thrilled that God is using us and our family to help others to build their families through adoption!

In August of last year, Emory lost his job. Do to the job loss, and several changes in our life, we switched churches. We went back "home". We went back to the church we grew up in, the church where both our families attend. That decision allowed God to work 2 more miracles in our family. The first Sunday we attended church, our pastor spoke of foster care from the pulpit, and the governor's wife was featured in a video telling the of the needs for foster families. We immediately felt God pricking our hearts, and wondered if this was the reason God had sent us back to our home church. Within 6 weeks of that Sunday, Emory and I were approved foster parents.

Our first foster child was a 12 year old boy, we had him for only 5 days. It was just long enough to fall in love with him, it was sooo hard to let him go. One week later we got our next placement...2 beautiful little boys. We will call them "MJ" and "CA". MJ is 3 years old, and CA is 15 months. They are the cutest little hispanic boys you have ever seen!! We have had them for 10 months, and we are absolutely in love. God has blessed us tremendously. I can't even begin to imagine our lives without them.

So, somewhere in the midst of all that, we prayerfully decided to start our own Adoption Consultation company with the help of our friend. This is not only our passion, but our ministry. We want to glorify God through every step of this business, and give Him all of the glory!

This is our family just 2 weeks ago, we were at the Creation Museum in Florence, Kentucky!!

Just starting out...

Well, we officially started this business last October, and it has taken us several months to get it off the ground and running! So far, everything is going great! We are enjoying every step of this process. We have enjoyed getting to know each family that we are working with, and watching each family honor God through their adoption journey. This journey can be a long, and trying one...but we know that God is in control. Please continue to check back often, as we will be placing information on our adoptive families, as well as available situations that we have been made aware of through licensed agencies.
